Our Impression of the Revo X Combo
Overall this is a pretty damn good combo. They retail for about $149.99, so at that price point, you are going to be hard-pressed to find a rod and reel that performs that well. The only thing that personally keeps me from adding it to my lineup is for some reason they only offer right-hand models at this time. Once they put out a left-handed combo, it will likely become part of my bass fishing arsenal.
Revo X Low Profile Reel
The reel itself comes in either a 6.6:1 or a 5:4.1 gear ratio. We tested the 5:4.1 and it was incredibly smooth and great for crankbaits or anything that needs a slower retrieve. The drag system was on point with up to 18 lbs. of drag pressure, and the reel was incredibly forgiving — something that might be a selling point for those who are new to baitcasters.
Revo X Low Profile Rod
The Revo X rod was an average rod; nothing special, but also not a total flop. I prefer some of Abu Garcia’s higher end rods, but for the price, you really can’t complain or find anything that’s going to replace it at that price point.
