When fishing with braid, you want to use a backer before attaching it to your reels arbor. The backer prevents the spool from slipping underneath your Braided line.
In the video below I’m going to show you how I attach Braided Fishing Line to my Reel, using a monofilament or fluorocarbon backer. You can also use tape as a backer, but in my opinion, the mono or fluoro backer is a little less messy, as the tape tends to eventually release its adhesive into the braid.
In the video, I show you how to tie an arbor knot for your mono or fluoro backer and then how to attach the braid with a Double Uni Knot.
